Hey, foodies! Fairfield County has plenty of amazingly fabulous eating establishments and we’re sharing some that have impressed us during our travels. From BBQ to Vietnamese, to burgers, to wine bars, and then some, here are some spots you need to put on your “gotta try it” list! Your taste buds and belly will thank you.
We recently partnered up with CT Visit as CT Ambassadors, so you can also see this story on their fabulous website!
Our specialty, BFF day trips! And this one was epic! We were able to fit so much into a day in SoNo (South Norwalk) because it’s especially awesome like that. Park your car (plenty of parking options) and spend the day on foot. There’s a lot to see and do within walking distance. Our kinda town!
We love blogging about food features. We love food. We love drinks. Heck, we’re proud foodies!
We first met Chris Hickey, co-owner of Norwalk’s The Spread, when we were shooting our Cocktails+Cuisine feature with Ken Tuccio. After enjoying drinks and a few apps that night, we wanted to head back for a full feature to chow down, experience more of that energetic SoNo vibe, and get some chat time with Chris for the inside scoop about what makes this restaurant a hidden gem!
“Hello, fun!” That’s Pedego Electric Bikes’ tagline and also how we felt after our first Pedego experience! We visited their SoNo store a few weeks ago to take a couple of their rental bikes out for a sightseeing spin around beautiful South Norwalk. Ahhh!!! See how we did…and scroll to the end for a great offer for Unlocking readers – your turn to “hello, fun!”
Those familiar with the luxury publication Cottages & Gardens know that the word “cottages” does not refer to a small, simple dwelling. As we found out, these are the cottages of Victorian times when a cottage was a very large home, often a second country home. Be it the Connecticut, Hamptons, New York, or San Francisco edition, Cottages & Gardens invites readers to dream big, swoon over the magnificent homes of others, get great design inspiration, and a whole lot more.
We got to spend a few hours hanging out with Editorial Director, DJ Carey at the C&G headquarters in Norwalk. We wanted to find out what it takes to be an editor of a large, glossy publication (something I think we may both secretly want to do in our next life!), and DJ was more than willing to share. She was also happy to answer our “getting to know you” questions and have a good giggle too.
Enjoy getting to know this week’s #womancrush: DJ Carey!
Billy Blanks Jr. had Paula Abdul as a mentor, is a self-taught accomplished dancer and entertainer, his parents are famous for creating one of our favorite workouts from the 90s, Tae Bo, and he was recently appointed the role of Artistic Director of the Wall Street Theater in Norwalk!
We caught up with Billy for a private Dance It Out® (DIO) session – his own fitness-based dance program that you may have seen when he picked up a deal on Shark Tank. You may have also caught DIO® on Dr. Oz, Ellen, the Meredith Vieira Show, The View, ABC, NBC, FOX, The Hallmark Channel, So You Think You Can Dance, and now….Unlocking Connecticut!
Thanks to Lora’s job working for Theatre Projects, we were tipped off to a very exciting new theater just opening in Norwalk, the Wall Street Theater. We went along for a sneak peek to see it just weeks away from its grand opening performance, “8” A NIGHT WITH BROADWAY’S BEST.
We spoke to three key players in getting this amazing renovation and opening off the ground; from dream to reality: Frank Farricker of Lockwood and Mead, the Developer; Suzanne Cahill, the President and Chairperson of the Board; and Billy Blanks, Jr., the Artistic Director. We had questions!
