Today we’re at home with Orthodontist Adam Goodman, DMD, at his weekend abode in Washington.

After recently moving into the area and spending several weekends, Dr. Goodman was pleasantly surprised to bump into some of his patients. Occasionally he will deliver an Invisalign aligner or clip a poking orthodontic wire right from his Washington home, or even make a house call!  We headed over like Welcome Wagon and talked about teeth, life in Litchfield County, movies, and Invisalign. Dr. G has been fitting Invisalign since it launched in 1999 and travels the country training other dentists and orthodontists in the artistry of giving patients the perfect smile!

Nancy Novogrod has had an impressive career as an editor in the magazine world. First, as Editor-in-Chief of House & Garden, and then for twenty years as Editor-in-Chief of Travel + Leisure magazine. The places she must have gone, done, seen!

Nancy and her husband split their time between New York and Kent…which is a good thing because we most certainly wanted to visit the home of somebody so well traveled! We’re willing to guess that being the EIC of Travel + Leisure would involve a fair bit of world commuting.

Also, we had questions…

How we love having Unlocking Litchfield as an excuse to meet our interesting neighbors! Inquisitive by nature, our “At home with…” features allow us to capture a glimpse into the lives of some really cool people. Today’s power couple is Alexander and Gina Duckworth. The Duckworths and their two younger children, Aubrey and Sebastian, live in Litchfield on the weekends and during the week, they’re being all kinds of fabulous in their careers in NYC. Come, be a Nosy Nancy alongside us!

John Scofield is and artist and designer living in Sharon, CT with his wife Bartley Johnstone, and their daughter, Evie. John’s folding music stand is in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. His work has been published and reviewed in Arts, Design Times, Elle Decor, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Metropolis, New York Times, Progressive Architecture, Traditional Home, Vogue and other publications. We visited with John and Bartley a couple of weeks ago, and we present to you; “At Home with John Scofield.”

Sometimes you just want to hang out with your friends, drink red wine, and eat delicious nibbles. It helps when your friends are talented, artistic, interesting people because then we can interview them, and turn them into a blog post! Multi-tasking is our bag.

We met with New Milford artist Suzanne Heilmann to capture some shots of her work and ask her a question or two. Just what makes an artist tick? Also in girlfriend-hangout-attendance, actor/director/artist Yolonda Ross (read her interview next week).

Suzanne Heilmann is a texturalist. Read on…

Josie Natori is a New York based fashion designer and the CEO and founder of The Natori Company. Well known for their designer lingerie, which is how Josie Natori began the company (almost 40 years ago), Natori has since expanded to include ready-to-wear, evening wear, sleepwear, fragrance, home textiles, accessories, and coming soon, legwear!

Ok, level with us. Have you ever gone for a Sunday drive around Litchfield County and wanted to stop and knock on the doors of some of the impressive homes you see? Wouldn’t you like to meet their owners and have a look around? If the answer is yes, then you’re in luck – Unlocking Litchfield’s own version of “MTV Cribs” is here! We plan on meeting some of our neighbors, one by fabulous one.

We had been drooling over Robert Couturier’s Instagram account for quite some time oohing and ahhing over pictures of his home, furnishings, gardens, and fabulous lifestyle! We wanted to meet the stylish man behind “Robert Couturier, Inc.” – the International Architect and Designer. No problem. We just put our wishes out into the world (using our trade secret method), and “voila,” an invitation to tour Robert’s home pops into our inbox. The power of the Universe is real!
