We recently spent a happy morning getting lost in room upon room of living-space inspiration at Saybrook Home in Old Saybrook. As Lora said when we arrived, “This place is ginorm!” And once we had our fill of home décor shopping, we walked across the courtyard to the apparel section of the Saybrook Home village to do some closet shopping in the men’s and women’s departments.

Does this pic make you want to run for some club soda? Thankfully, furniture has come a long way and now comes in performance fabrics like Sunbrella and Crypton, both available at Saybrook Home.

Putting Saybrook Home’s design services to the test

If having too much choice is a thing for you, don’t worry, Saybrook Home offers custom interior design consultations with in-store designers who are on hand to help guide you in finding exactly what you want.

We spent some time getting some help for our own personal decorating challenges. A new home with an unfurnished sitting room for Lora, and several empty surfaces (having recently watched Minimalism) for me (Bev)!

In-home consultations

Saybrook Home offers free interior design services. A professional interior designer will come to your home, make recommendations, and design an interior space to reflect your style and vision. Check out some of their portfolio of home transformations!

Wall coverings are making a comeback and Saybrook Home has a HUGE selection…but of course, we wanted this one.
Also, an even huger selection of upholstery fabrics.

This is Keith A. Bolles, son of the founders and visionaries of Saybrook Home, Jane and Keith Bolles. Keith gave us the low-down on the company’s philosophy, “We don’t believe in good enough. We want our customers to find exactly what they want. Every item is selected with thought and purpose versus utility.”

We loved the Stressless comfort zone. This furniture line from Norway may be the most comfortable thing we’ve ever rested our bottoms on!

Gifts for days…

In addition to the enormous selection of home furnishings, Saybrook Home is a no-brainer if you’re looking for gifts of any description. Wedding, birthday, housewarming, kids, guys…

Need a good source for candles? Saybrook Home has an entire room dedicated to just candles of every shape, size, and style you’ve ever hunted for!

We’ll take this, please!

Dress your home, then dress your closet (or vice-versa)

Once you’ve finished treating your home to some new goodies, go do the same for your closet. Saybrook Home carries some phenomenal lines and we wished we had longer to shop. Eileen Fisher, Saint James, NYDJ, Baggallini, Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide are just a few…and cashmere, lots of cashmere!

And after all that shopping, if you’ve worked up a hunger or a thirst (or both) make sure you stop for lunch/dinner at Aspen Restaurant & Bar located in the same shopping village. As we said, it’s a day trip!
