We’re both fascinated by this kind of thing and have had varying degrees of medium encounters (Lora lots, Bev little)…so we didn’t hesitate to come up with some questions for our experience with Patty; a gifted psychic medium, intuitive, clairvoyant, and empath!

Our questions answered…
When did you realize you could communicate with people who have passed?
I knew I had the gift my entire life and always knew I was a little bit different. I would wake in the middle of the night and do automatic writing. My husband would think I was insane. I’d put the toilet seat down and sit writing in the middle of the night.
It wasn’t until about 5 years ago that I realized I was a medium like John Edwards, or Theresa Caputo (Long Island Medium) and that I was meant to do this.
What kinds of things happened that made you understand that you’re a medium?
I would write poems for people when I was 10 when somebody passed away, and I would write it like I knew them. And things like, somebody would say to me, “Oh I’m going to close on this house in February” and I was like, no, you’re going to close on January 14th….and then they would.
I was always different!
What does it feel like when you’re communicating with spirit?
They show me a slide show, and show me whatever they want me to see, and whatever they want me to feel. It’s a thought process.
I get drained. After about 2 hours I’ll pass out. I take on the energy of everyone in the room with me and the energy of everyone who has passed. If someone was shot, I feel shot and if you had something wrong with your stomach, I might feel it. If you broke your foot 20 years ago, I might feel like somebody came along and smashed my foot!
I always tell people, “I’m here, but I’ve “left” the building.”
Does it happen at random moments….like in the line at the grocery store?
You have to have permission to read somebody, and you have to be very respectful. There have been a few incidents where “they” really bother me and I have to go up to the person and say, “Excuse me, do you believe in mediums?” They’ll say yes or no!
How different is doing what you do for a large audience versus a private session?
It’s very different because in a private session I get more detail because they can talk to me longer and I’m not bouncing. In a big session, I’m doing 2 hours and I’m trying to get to as many people as I can, so it’s like speed-reading. With both, people do walk away with peace and closure.
What do you say to those who are skeptical?
You’re like an antenna and I read from you. If you’re closed, that’s how your reading will be, and if you’re open, that’s how your reading will be. Remember, they can’t talk like you and I…they just show me images and together we have to figure out what they’re communicating.
Do you ever have pets come through?
Yes. I had little Rambo come through once, he was the first dog that ever spoke to me. He was the mom’s soul mate.
Can anyone learn how to communicate with spirit?
I believe you either have a gift or you don’t. But everyone can learn how to meditate, how to look for signs, how to be more psychic. Everyone has the ability, but I don’t think everyone can do what John Edwards or Theresa Caputo does…to that extent. Everyone has a sense, and your loved ones give you signs all the time. You just have to know how to look for it.
How did she know that?!
Post-interview we sat down with Patty for a reading session…and she brought up just about everything we had spoken about on our journey to see her. Like seriously, is my car bugged?! As it happens, when there are two people together being read, it can be confusing on who is coming through for who…turned out Lora’s relatives were very much with us…and mine, perhaps because they are in Scotland, were being shy.
